CM Lim Guan Eng's head must have grown overnight when certain 'facts' that were printed both in an Economics magazine as well as Bloomberg made him out to be some economic wonder. Penang has been hailed THE growth state of Penang!
Heck, there are BIG plans out there, and one of them is this. I am not sure about you, but I have certainly had my share of putting up in airport hotels. So when Public Works, Utilities and Transportation Committee chairman Lim Hock Seng for Penang announced that plans are afoot for a PEanng Airport hotel, it kind of tells you what kind of dungus you have up north.
Here is why.
Penang has an International Airport, no doubt, but being a destination in itself, tourist and travellers alike terminates there. In fact there are only a handful of flights transiting in Penang. Oh wait! There USED to be flights transiting in Penang but not anymore.
Malaysia Airlines brilliant move to cut destinations caused Penang to suffer a blip when it terminated flights from London, and Manchester. Even so, most of these flights terminate there. Which will make any airport hotel a 'white elephant'.
Wanna know why? If one was to stay short term in Penang, it would very likely be a downtown hotel. And that for obvious reasons. Transit hotels will do exceptionally well only if you have many flights TRANSITING the airport, hence the name Transit Hotel. Which are the high volume tourist arriving in Penang today?
China ranks high, but how many flights from China TRANSITS in Penang? NONE! Peanng is ultimately a destination in itself, and because of strategic airports within the region, it is unlikely that Penang can become an International hub big enough to handle volumes of travelers wanting to stay in the airport.
Having said that Air Asia is trying to do something there, but being a budget airline, it does not offer hotel accommodation to travelers stranded on transit. For this alone, airports in Sepang gets spillover business from Pan Pacific KLIA whenever flights terminating in KLIA are delayed beyond 'reasonable' time.
But take a look at these fuighres from the Penang State Tourism, perhaps these figures convinced the State to commission this project. Penang tourism quoted hotel guest of 'Malaysia tourist' (whatever that means) at 68.8 million for 2008 (titled 'Boost in Penang Tourist Arrivals') whereas official figures frm Tourism Malaysia cited this number. I could not locate statistics that point to a particular state claiming as top destination in Malaysia, nor did I get figures that segregated local from foreign tourist. Either way, my bet is that Airport hotels are only USEFUL for those with transit flights to catch, with limited time to spare exploring the city.
In any case, to me, with my years involved in the industry, Airport or Transit hotel in Penang is clearly not well thought out.
What you don't see. . . . What we hope you can see. I made the change in March 2008. Don't ever be told who you must vote for. You decide who your vote should go to. If you are told to support one group from the other, then you know you are in bad company!

Anwar the Decepti-Con
Compounding the concerns was the government’s expansionary budget for
1998. Unveiled on October 17 1997 by Finance Minister and Deputy Prime Minister
Anwar Ibrahim, the budget further disappointed the markets as it failed to
signal fiscal austerity. As Gomez and Jomo aptly noted “the mid-October 1997
budget announcement for 1998 was seen by foreign financial interests as further
evidence of official denial of the gravity of the crisis and its causes…. Notes
by Shalendra D.Sharma on Malaysian Capital Control during the 97 financial
crisis.
Does that ring the bell? Especially those who now know what
it did not know back then?
Who again? Anwar Ibrahim as the then Finance Minister
drilled down bitter IMF medicine which Tun Dr Mahathir recognised as Cyanide
instead of Penicilin.
Yet the very same person who seemed to have transformed
himself has this to say about Malaysia’s financial health. In fact he has gone on and on, about the 2012
budget but nothing about how he dished out his budget when he was at the helm
of the ever powerful MOF.
You might ask why if ever is this relevant.
I will give you an example, a glaring one too.
Instead of pointing out to PAS the importance of
safeguarding the constitution, he sent a message to PAS that if indeed PR would
ever cease power to rule over Malaysia, he would back PAS and the
implementation of Hudud no matter what.
And here you have Nik Aziz going on and on about how PAS did
never dropped their quest to defend Islam by implementing Hudud (although it
baffles me how that is relevant because we would end up burdening the federal
health program by introducing more ‘OKU’s into the population).
I was forewarned by a friend to stop commenting about Hudud
because I am a non-believer. But if I am another concerned citizen of the country
I so love, why can’t I speak out against a political party hell bent on
introducing something that even Muslims themselves condemn? What more to
introduce into law acts that human rights activists deplore?
My point? How is it that politicians can quickly forget
about how what they use to fight for? Don’t take my word for it, but do look up
the 1997 budget announcement and then tell me what Anwar is saying now, and
then look me straight in the eye and say, this is the man you want to see as
the head of state.

A Law Professor, an assembly and a whole lot of sense
An academic is not just one that teaches or lectures in a classroom or lecture hall. In fact, whatever that person does in and out of his or her teaching environment reflects upon the institution he or she represents.
IIUM in Gombak is no different from any other Academia, and in an effort to stem the damage already done by Prof.Aziz Bari's comments had taken steps to suspend the lecturer and asking o show cause at the same time. He had been reported to have said that the Sultan of Selangor's involvement in the JAIS fiasco and the subsequent statement by his Majesty as 'something out of the ordinary'. He also added that the Sultan had to ensure that any involvement must adhere to Islamic teachings.
What is not ordinary is not so much as the Sultan's action but more of what this Professor had done. Never before had an Academic attempt to sway the palace and the Sultan this way, by media manipulation.
But let's look at what Professor Aziz stands for and why this is the right time for him to say something like this.
For one, Professor Aziz Bari is linked to 'Akademi Merdeka'. 'Akademi Merdeka' aims to discuss the constitution, principals, laws of the country amongst others. The 'Akademi Merdeka' series is funded by IDEAS. (click here to find out how the NGO web is used to perpetuate anti establishment messages and sentiments)
So, did IIUM act negatively towards Aziz Bari? In an employer-employee dispute, does the dispute go to Parliament or does it go for arbitration in PERKESO? Apparently, not. So here PAS jumps in and wants to take this to Parliament. If all this still does not tell the rakyat that there are serious political games going on, persisted by PR, then I wonder what will. There is a fine line to encourage thinking, but to manipulate is something else.
Perhaps one should also remember that such shadow play did occur not too long ago. Case in point? UNISEL. Did that even follow procedure? You decide.
And all this stemmed from DUMC, didn't it? Which state government did it involve again?
And how about the organisers who pulled HIMPUN together? Is it wrong for them to do so? After all, it is guaranteed by law isn't it? That no proselytism should take place on Muslims and their beliefs?
But is this the real situation anyway? There are certainly groups and individuals doing this on the pretext of 'freedom to choose your own religion' and speak to a young naive person, and that person will believe it too.
So? what if there were only 5 thousand people who attended the gathering. What it tells me is that 5000 Muslims do not want to see way such acts of proselytising. I certainly did not feel uneasy about the gathering, and congratulations should go out to those who wanted it done in a stadium. How to ramp up the numbers? Take to the streets, but thats not what the organisers wanted. Is that so hard to understand?
What makes a whole lot of sense these days is that given the opportunity, PR lawmakers (and a bunch of lawyers most of them are....didn't they tell you that Lawyers are a bunch of sharks?) are quick to jump on any issue if it can give them more support from those convinced that Malaysia is doomed and w hole lot of good will come if these lawyers and their masters are given the chance to rule.
How best to achieve that? Divide the Malays!
Would you want to jump from the safety of your boat into Shark infested waters just because someone yelled your boat is leaking? Wouldn't you at least check for leaks first??

A ray of hope....
Perhaps the Minister has finally taken note that there are indeed some people who can actually deliver.
A new Chairman has just been named at MCMC, yes the same MCMC that is under the Minister of Communication, Information and Culture, and he is no other than Datuk Mohamed Sharil Tarmizi.
he is certainly no stranger to the commission, and having served 3 ministers, including the current, Malaysians keen on the development of the industry can sit up and pay attention, as this man is one that the industry is respectful of.
Not known to be one that cuts corners, Sharil once chaired ICANN, and agencies like Talent Corp should perhaps use him as a model on how Malaysians who have gone abroad can return and serve like him.
Personally, I am just glad that the Minister has relented and chosen a capable young man to helm an important arm in MCMC and perhaps, the old man can learn a thing or two......
Tahniah, Datuk. And please remind those monkeys there that those who used to jump up and down when they were told to, well, be prepared to get in the cage!

'Ong' lai...
Perhaps this may mean something if you are a Chinese of Hokkien descend. After all, would anyone turn down luck? (The literal meaning of 'Ong Lai' is Luck is coming...)
But for MCA members, perhaps the recent news of Ong Tee Keat wanting to join the opposition is something welcoming. As in this case, its 'Ong Lai' for the opposition and 'Ong Keee' for MCA.
Question of whether Ong is welcomed in the opposition does not arise, but the very thought of Ong leaving mst be good nes to MCA. After all, post 2008, Ong did say that MCA could be better of if it left BN altogether.
As such, to drive that message across, he had engaged a think tank to figure out how best to remove MCA from within the structure that intertwine with the current NGOs and chambers of commerce, all vital life lines of the party.
And having been voted out from the party itself, now Ong is singing a very different tune. Today, Ong denied that he had met Anwar Ibrahim and with that, a hop to the opposition is out of the question. But is it?
Knowing that he has lost the support from his party which is largely due to his own doing, Ong is now sending signals to MCA management that he has every intention to 'fight' them. here is a man tasked with leading the party then, but all he did was griped and groan. Now he is saying that he was voted out by conspiracy.
Ong, ask yourself what you did to MCA by having that 'company' lead a failed cyber strategy....
But here is the kicker........As it stands, Pakatan supporters have to put up with one power hungry former MCA 'dildo'(can't even call him a dickhead!) with initials JMC, and here TKO wants to get in on the non action!
Good riddance to bad rubbish, I say!
Read what daSpanker thinks of him......

Guan Eng tunrs his back on Chinese education
When news got round that there was a case of sexual harassment to the extent of outraging the modesty of a teenage girl, I had the impression that Guan Eng was reliving his moments in a case when he tried to pin Rahim Thamby Chik.
So when the stories began to surface that he was apparently trying to hide the issue that was apparently the fault of his son, he lashed out at the bloggers choosing to label it an UMNO/UMNO sponsored bloggers attack on him and his family.
"My son is very shaken up by these lies. He has also not gone back to school for two days. I feel sad that I am not able to protect my young son,.....If you want to finish me off, do your worst to me but leave my innocent children alone" Lim said in a statement Tuesday, blaming pro-Umno bloggers for the allegations. "
Its true what he said, about innocent children.
Wonder what Najib went through when opposition blogs began playing the story on his son being a 'player'?
Or how about his family's feelings when the accusations of a murderer surfaced? (Opposition leaders still drop innuendos on this accusation every time they go on ceramahs)
The opposition are known for their style of personal attacks and this has been going on for a while now. But those who dish it like Guan Eng cannot take it.
But the more shocking news is that the DAP DO NOT BELIEVE IN CHINESE EDUCATION. CM Lim has admitted here that he transferred his son out of Chinese school. And he blamed it on a hair cut???
What system does he believe in then? Isn't Guan Eng and the likes of him fond of attacking BN Ministers for sending their children to other schools other than government schools? Does taking his son out of Chinese school mean that he does not believe it is a good school? and then blaming it on haircut????
Or are the bloggers telling the truth?
All I know is that his son did probably get a whacking.....that could be why he stayed away from school right?

Berry, Berry good?
A couple of days ago, Malaysian Chronicle reported that Malaysiakini was in talks with Malay Mail and that quickly got some to jump up and down in protest over what was being played as an UMNO media takeover.
As quickly as you said 'What' the guys who seems 'chronically' inclined to blame it all on UMNO had this other story 'Jalil to take charge at NSTP'.
Fast forward and the 'Laurel and Hardy' show started (Don't they resemble that famous bungling pair? Prem and Steven?). However, unknown to a lot of people (the very ones who think that Mkini is ALWAYS telling the truth) Prem and Steven have been playing good cop bad cop one too many times. Read here on what an ex- Mkini staffer has to say about them.
But a few months back, here at muststopthis, I highlighted how Malaysiakini made its entry. Read here for Part 1 of Follow the money, and here for Part 2 of Follow the money.
And why is that relevant? Lets leave this for a while later....
So Steven has spoken, but just as fast as Prem dismissed the idea of Malaysiakini talking to Malay Mail, Steven has admitted that Malaysiakini was in fact in talks with MM. So who is telling the truth?
But why Malay Mail? Isn't Malay Mail dead in the water already? Not quite....yet.
When Rocky went back to Malay Mail, everyone assumed that he was put there by PM and that his job was to well, make everything rosy. On the contrary, no one saw the downside that he was in.
Being put incharge of a paper that he was once very much apart of, and seeing the state that it was in when he took over are two very different things. I haven't spoken much to him about it, but my guess is that in the two years that he was there and facing the stiff problems from those who signed the cheques, he figured it was better facing the problems yet signing the cheques himself. Hence theMole.
So what about MM and Mkini? Take a look at the 'new' old timers there now. Can you see the point?
So is it a coincidence then that a certain Minister in charge of all these media hullabaloo has stuck this up the Berry causing it to see Red? After all, it has been played around a bit, with even Media Prima weighing in on that much sort after license.
Lets refresh our memory again shall we? Malay Mail in talks with Malaysiakini (its kind of like a slap in the Minister's face isn't it?), Bernama TV license slipping away (its all his fault right?), Bernama TV staff no paid their salaries? (OK, its serious now)
IMHO, someone up there is trying to send a STRONG message across that if they don't play ball, something BERRY, BERRY serious might just happen.
Then again, this is only my theory.......

Fatwa again?
The last time I knew someone who had a 'fatwa' against him was when PAS was calling for his head for defending 'Murtad' (Murtad basically means those who abandon Islam) cases.
That was back then. Now he champions their call, though questioning why Nik Aziz still insists on Hudud, despite PR openly saying that they have agreed to 'put it on hold'.
Despite DAP saying that they are dead against Hudud, with Karpal even suggesting that legal action will be taken against the PAS led Kelantan State government, PAS is pressing ahead, in fact bulldozing ahead!
So when things do not go right for Pakatan, its supporters would naturally turn to BN and start 'fires' in their neighbours house. This posting is too graphic to put in my blog (Explicit material posted here to smear MCA and MCA Youth) but its not something new isn't it. However, this time they have gone too far.
Funny why the same website did not question their 'god sent' leader right?
When things do not go for them, they play the racial card, don't they? And now with things going against them on the Hudud issue, a 'Fatwa' is best for them to threaten?
It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out what happens if ever Pakatan comes into power. DAP will cow down when there is a mass of support calling for extremist Islamic policies. PKR as ever will sway like the lallang they are. And when non-muslims start to voice up, they will threaten with 'Fatwa'.
This is not the BN way. In fact, Malaysia does not resort to these kinds of policies. It is die hard supporters like these that seem to have their own version of how Malaysia should be. The other problem is there are pockets of Malaysian communities who seem to think that this is the way to go. The Catholic Chrurch seems to be heading this way too.
All said, when will Malaysians realise that there is simply no room for extremism?
For 54 years, Malaysia has held a steady course, let not these overzealous power hungry desparados steer the ship to the nearest reef!

Ants in the pants or fire down below?
Jostling and shoving usually takes place in the months leading up to an election.
Trouble is, in Malaysia, these kinds of maneuvering seem to happen even before the announcement.
With the recent groundbreaking budget revelation by PM Najib, talk has been rife about him calling
for an early election ahead of a perceived economic slowdown. Elections in economically challenging times
are often suicidal. But the again, its only a perception.
However in recent days, many have expressed hope that the government will see out its full term, which will eventually see the next General Elections before March 8, 2013. One such proponent is none other than former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir. Interestingly enough, here is a business perspective on how and if, the elections is held in 2012.
But all these are only indicators. What is happening now in political parties are moves to see who will lead their respective parties to the polls. In three days, Gerakan will be holding their annual delegate's conference, and from within, the 'Teleporting' Minister without portfolio (often mocked by netizens as Accompanying Minister) is facing the stiffest of hurdles from his own party. Many has reflected that since 2008, gerakan has fallen way back from other BN component parties due to his frail leadership.
To back Koh, defensive statements from the likes of Gerakan Legal and Human Rights Bureau chair Baljit Singh that Koh is actually an elected leader by democratic means (read: unlike opposition parties which generally do not encourage challenges to the top post) and therefore should lead Gerakan's challenge against DAP has been made.
Yet the likes of Bayan Baru chairman Wong Mun Hoe, who has complemented MCA President Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek for his recent advocating of 'a New Deal for the Chinese community' which augurs well for leaders, Koh should provide clear indication of how and what Gerakan must stand for to remain relevant in Penang. A former stronghold of Gerakan, DAP has dug in with gusto through intense lobbying of previously stronghold areas of Gerakan.
Koh does not have uch time, for he has spent a good 2 years 'accompanying' the Prime Minister and has not done much for Gerakan. So much so that some has even questioned why Najib had named Koh as a Minister without portfolio despite the rejection of Gerakan by the rakyat.
Tun Dr Lim Keng Yaik had made his stand clear in the past meetings to the point that he even quit as party advisor, primarily due to the hurt he had to endure watching Tsu Koon's leadership of the party that he had very much helped to build.
Evidently, Tsu Koon is still trying hard to hang on to Gerakan, but will gerakan hang on to him? In the last EGM in which Teng Hock Nam was the subject of an ouster by party delegates, over 45% had wanted him removed. Hock Nam is widely known as a close ally of Tsu Koon. That was only over a year ago.
One year on, did another 6% decide on the fate of Hock Nam and Tsu Koon?
Clearly, MCA has been working hard to convince its own members of the task ahead, Gerakan it seems is having trouble to convince its President of the task ahead!
So, Fire down below? or is it Ants in the pants Tan Sri?

All Hail Emperor Anwar!
At least this is what he thinks he will be if he becomes PM!
Anwar volunteered information to the (then) Ambassador of US to Malaysia, James Keith in a meeting on Sept 14, 2009.
And this is the man who wants to be Prime Minister? Anwar had met Najib in 'early August of 2009' and had apparently insisted that the meeting included PAS President, PKR President and DAP President (I did not know that DAP had a President in Karpal Singh!), at least this is what wikileaks tells us.
Sure this is old news, but here is where it gets interesting.
Apparently, in the meeting between Anwar and James Keith (at least this is what the cables between James Keith and Washington read), Anwar had said to Keith that he (Anwar) had came away satisfied from the two hour meeting as he (Anwar) was treated with respect due to an opposition party leader.
Anwar also indicated that in the meeting 'Najib had said he could not do anything for Anwar with regards to his sodomy pending case in courts.' This reads to me as if someone tried to ask the other for help. Quite unlikely that Najib asked for help from Anwar, but more likely from Anwar to Najib. Won't you think?
Next is the clincher! Anwar's apparent reply (according to Jame's wire) was to the tune
'Anwar told the Ambassador that he had replied to Najib that
he was like an emperor who could do what he wanted to
determine the outcome. Anwar indicated that he did not
expect Najib to take action on his behalf, and for that
reason had resisted Najib's offers to meet again since the
August meeting.'
Wow! I am not sure about you. It seems to me that Anwar wants to be Emperor as he seems to believe that is what a Prime Minister is! SHOCKING! To say the least!
But lets take it with a pinch of salt, its always easier to send your own message across when you are telling a third party of a supposed clandestine meeting, isn't it?

JOHNny Day-ak?
Whats with Johns and DAP?
I recall a Peter JOHN Jaban (or was it Jamban, not sure) a man who preferred to call himself Papa Orang Utan who was the voice behind radiofreesarawak.org, a site whom we all know by now is linked to Claire Brown.....blah blah blah.
Now if there are still morons out there willing to believe that Ms.Brown has anything to do with fighting for their freedom, think again. Radiofreesarawak went of the net after May. It is now back again starting October.
Why? Did activism stop simply because Malaysia did not have an election or did activism resume because Malaysia is heading for an election?
This is what RFS posted on their return after a 5 month lay off.
RFS is back!
We kick-started our relaunch with an interview with newly-minted ADUN Baru Bian, PKR Sarawak chief on the encouraging response from the Australian government that has ordered its attorney-general office to look into claims of ill-gotten assets by long-serving chief minister Taib Mahmud there. YB Baru was one of three persons who signed a letter urging the Australian to investigate Taib’s properties and investment down under.
The announcement by the Prime Minister Najib Razak on the eve of the Malaysia Day celebration mid last month to repeal the draconian Internal Security Act was too important an announcement to be missed out by our listerners. Hence, RFS spoke to two NGOs who had long been campaigning for the abolishment of the inhumane law. Like most Malaysians, both Suaram’s Nalini and Gerakan Mansuhkan ISA president Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh remained sceptical of the BN government’s seriousness to fulfil its promise which is widely seen as an election sweetener.
Our new DJ Michael Ngau interviewed film-maker Joachim Leong who tried to find the answer as to why voters affected by the Bengoh Dam didn’t register their protest through the ballot box. Another PKR ADUN YB See Chee How gave an update on the court action by two villagers impacted by the construction of the water supply dam.
Haris Ibrahim of the Malaysian Civil Liberties Movement was again barred from entering Sarawak last Friday when he was meant to speak at the roadshow of the MCLM event called the Rakyat Reform Agenda. He told RFS he will challenge the ban through legal means and vowed to continue to spread the need for reform among Sarawakians.
Now, what RFS did not tell you is that Sarawak has THE RIGHT TO REFUSE ENTRY to anyone based on the 18 point agreement when SARAWAK agreed to join the Federation of Malaya, giving rise to Malaysia.
Here is what one Sarawakian has to say about the rights of Sarawakians:
Luckily we have autonomy on immigration or else it would have opened the floodgates for others from other state to take what is ours, especially in the economic and business aspect.
I like it to remain our status quo and should stay under the state control because that was part of the agreement.
It should be exercised purely to safeguard the interest of the Sarawakian people at large.
How Sarawak does it depends on those administering it. Its just so. If lawyers want to challenge that, I guess it is up to the biased courts to decide, ain't it? Because if they follow the letter of the law, with an agreement intact, then the challenge would surely be thrown out. So if it gets thrown out, its biased!
The DAP has a grand plan to try to change the mindset of rural Dayaks, telling them time and again that they are being raped by the state government, and hence the Federal Government. Why? This gweilo Ms.Brown, has been spilling the beans on the CM and his family.
So the latest antics of the gang to derail Sarawak is to use what they are normally used to, NGO's in the form of Dayak Consultative Council. In comes another John, this time DR.JOHN Brian Anthony.
This is in Dayak Baru, and from the little time I spent there (after reading comments from no less than 265 people), I gather that the message that John is sharing with his 'people' is that Dayak Baru will work with ANY political party that will fight for their cause.
And what cause would that be? for the betterment of Dayaks, I would like to think. But how is it going to help Sarawakians, especially Dayaks, if they continue doen the road with the likes of DAP? or MCLM?
John claims that "The little fund or grant given by the Government from time to time is simply not enough..." and "NGO in Sarawak / Malaysia is limited by the Government in their involvement with foreign country" and by that does his action seem to show that if he worked with DAP that his funding will be better?
How is attending dinners any good for the community? I would not have faulted him if he showed up with 20 letters of rejection from the government and hence he would rather work with DAP cause they would sponsor dinners for him to air his grouse in hope that other Dayaks listen to him and when the time that matters come 'The ELECTIONS', they will vote DAP!
Hoping to achieve just that, DAP state top brass and John, of course had the door slammed against them when practically nobody showed up at a sponsored forum held recently. A call to a Sarawakian friend who is a true blood Dayak simply tells me this : "This Dr.JOHN is a real JOHN! DAP picked up an Iban reject in JOHN Brian. Why? He went from PBDS to MDC to SNAP, then PKR and now DAP....all in a short period."
What else can I say? What do you find in the JOHN*? Sh#t!

SDNU for example has operated since the
1950′s and its current growth is stunted by many limitation one of which
is lack of economic activities to generate income to support the
general activities of SDNU. The little fund or grant given by the
Government from time to time is simply not enough. The egeneral support
from the public Dayak is generally cool and slow. How do we move forward
when the general environment is “cool”?
NGO in Sarawak / Malaysia is limited by
the Government in their involvement with foreign country. We do hear of
SDNU bringing Majlis Adat Dayak and dewan Adat Dayak cultural troupe to
Kuching of Gawai Dayak celebration and that is just that. The
relationship is limited to cultural ties and creating understanding
between the two countries with the same race. This is in Dayak Baru, and from the little time I spent there (after reading comments from no less than 265 people), I gather that the message that John is sharing with his 'people' is that Dayak Baru will work with ANY political party that will fight for their cause.

Not so clear standing
Kantoi! That seems to the favourite word when some Malay centric bloggers describe a 'snafu' by their subjects.
So DAP's Lim Guan Eng threat of 'leaving' when the Hudud issue was brought up by his comrade in arms was a 'Kantoi' no less!
Politicians who threaten to leave are actually 'wayang kulit' artistes! Think Gwee Tong Hian - Bentayan Assemblyman - Drama queen specialist (and now DAP is caught in a dilemma for having punished Gwee for misappropriation of funds). How about Karpal Singh's over my 'over my dead body claim'?
But the drama queen cake goes to Lim Guan Eng. He issued a threat that he would 'resign' if Hudud was implemented. Now that PAS is pressing ahead in Kelanatan, does it mean that he meant resign from DAP, from CM, or taking DAP out of PR altogether? Clearly pointed out here.
No clear standing! No clear standing on Hudud, no clear standing on DUMC issue, heck no clear stand on anything accept if it benefits himself and DAP!
Given that the elections MIGHT be round the corner, DAP is setting up itself to play the proverbial 'distressed boy' hoping to win yet again on 'I pity you' votes. Remember in 2008, even they themselves did not expect the results they got, in other words they got voted in based on voters who were angry against Pak Lah's leadership, NOT BN.
Yet again Guan Eng is caught. His silence on 'Christianity' sentiments played by his staff is deafening indeed.
Wonder what she has to say about Hudud eh? More persecution?

Pseudo Economic 'Experts' pokes at 2012 budgets
3 years on , and Pakatan Rakyat has yet to do anything drastically beneficial for the rakyat of the states it leads.
3 years on in not talking about a policy in hope that the rakyat will not question has resulted in one state going its own way implementing the Hudud enactment despite its 'coalition partners' saying no.
Yet, a 'pseudo economic expert' tasked with being the 'Economic adviser' of DAP could only muster a 'Budget 2012 fails to live up to the Prime Minister's reform pledges in NEM, GTP and ETP'.
Despite failing in his own business, raking debts and suing his customers to get his business out of trouble, the Pseudo expert chose to give percentages in trying to seek out the weaknesses of the 2012 budget.
No mention of DDIs and FDIs because by doing so would only give credit to Najib's administration. No need to also mention that in every nation, budget expenditure goes in tandem with income. Wonder what the Pseudo thinks of the USA economy? No need to stimulate local economy by spending internally? Perhaps then Obama should seek your help and advise in managing his domestic employment problems?
DAP thrives on highlighting negatives, and not acknowledging positives. For example, mentioning Greece, Spain and Ireland in one breath would lead their believers to think that Malaysia is all doom and gloom.
Nevermind that KLIFD, the planned Islamic financial capital will help in boosting Islamic financing in a big way.
No need to acknowledge that Malaysia is the largest Sukuk issuer with 64% market share in the world.
What this translates to is the growth in Islamic financial controls along with asset growth and Economic Traded Funds that are Syariah compliant. Think the whole world that is Syariah compliant looks to Malaysia as the place to trade and bank in this aspect.
Wait. DAP is not Islamic based right? No wonder then why Pseudo Economic experts do not mention anything about this.
Its easy isn't it to cite a few percentages here and there and then hoodwink their fanboys and gals into swallowing everything that is dished out wholesale.
Here is another example, how Unker Kit is making use of his adviser. Notice that Unker himself has not weighed in on the 2012 budget...yet. Why ar? Don't understand kah?
Instead, Unker chooses to highlight 'Richard Loh's My Dream Malaysia'. Unker, why don't you get Richard Loh to go to Penang and find out how DAP has affected the prices of property there ar?
For Richard Loh, may I suggest you try to move away from the city if you feel that city life can only get you a 900 sq ft apartment? I have found out why places like Malacca has become a developed state. Public transport there is really good. No need to use Proton if you don't like.
For many Malaysians who always look at the negative, I will tell you a story of how some people CHOOSE to return to Malaysia despite securing professional positions abroad (this will come soon)
But more importantly, if someone really cares to look into the positives, then here is an example, how one can see the silver lining on every cloud. He leads a party that even his former seniors have now claimed to be 'irrelevant'. The very same party seniors who have opted out of MCA to be Vice President of non elected position.
There you have it, my conclusion is that the likes of these people only see Malaysia as a half full glass, and not a half empty one. Syabas PR, thanks for reminding us yet again why our vote for you in 2008 is a wasted one!

Shadow of doubt
Its that time of the year again when as the Finance Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak will reveal the all important budget for the year ahead. As such, the local cyberspace forums are all ablaze with all kinds of potentials and taxes.
The budget isn't something that is plucked from the sky, and this is something that will affect every Malaysian given the challenging times ahead in world economy.
So days ahead of the budget revelation, the RM1 Economic Adviser of the Selangor Government (which by the way had an additional supplementary budget of RM194 approved in the last year) chose to unveil Pakatan Rakyat's shadow budget.
Now if that is not a publicity stunt what is then?
Pakatan Rakyat has been good at best in making claims and instigation. Let's l;ook at a prime example of how they are good with shadows.
Take for example the Shadow Cabinet of theirs....It contains a list of PR elected representatives that include now independent MP Tan Tee Beng (Nibong Tebal) and Wee Choo Keong (Wangsa Maju). As if that is not bad enough, it also contains MP Dr Lo Lo Ghazali (Titiwangsa) who passed aaway after a long battle with cancer.
Playing in the shadows is always easy, because when you do, most people will not be able to see what you do.
But a national Budget is much more important than that.
Isn't it so 'PR' to create another issue, when they cannot solve their own? What about Hudud? Even DAP cannot stop PAS from going ahead with a plan that is unconstitutional.
So if they ever step up to power, who do you think will lead the PR Government? Kit Siang, Anwar or Nik Aziz? Without a workable policy of power sharing, and evidence that DAP, PAS and PKR are on different pages, a gamble this big will only spell disaster.
I believed that they would have been a good opposition when I voted them in 2008, but they want to become the Government instead. Trouble is, they themselves cannot agree between themselves, and they expect to lead our country?
What is the power policy that PR believes in? Automobile Industry? Education? Any mention on research and development in the field of Nuclear energy? Aerospace Industry?
Sudahlah.....PR boleh main jauh-jauh!

Loyalty as we know it differs greatly for politicians
Do you remember when you were back in school? How you would jump to her defense when some other student from a rival school would call you names simply because your school had a different one?
Remember?
I have come to a conclusion that some people just do not have any loyalty. Especially so for some who seem to turn their backs the moment things get tough for them.
I am talking bout the likes of Anwar Ibrahim, for one. The moment he was sacked from UMNO, he started attacking it choosing to label himself as having to go with the pack when he was very much part of it. In fact he revelled in his position as nr 2 back when he was in UMNO.
How bout Chua Jui Meng? Jui Meng was very much up there when in MCA, and of course, he battled Tun Ling Liong Sik and as a result of not having gained control of MCA and after a power broking deal, left MCA as a nowhere man. He has tried to reinvent himself and you will not be faulted to think of him as the chinese version of Anwar Ibrahim now that he has chosen to be Vice President of a non elected position.
And then there is Lee Hwa Beng. A losing candidate in the previous 2008 General Election, Hwa Beng has also tried to reinvent himself. Gone are the days when he was riding high, armed with his Palm Pilot asking his constituents whether they were voters or not.
His tenure as Chairman of Port Klang Authority dissapeared as fast as his loyalty to his party MCA when he was told that his term was not to be renewed.
These are only three examples of how people who have had a taste of power cope with themselves and their loyalty, always choosing to go 'if you don't need me, I will need-le you' route.
But perhaps the one that takes the cake is Ong Tee Keat. Having lead MCA in perhaps the most trying times post 2008, the man chose questionable methods to distance MCA from Barisan Nasional. One of which was to engage a think tank to 'severe limbs' from a perceived sickly body (post 2008, MCA was at times hinting of breaking away from BN) and to reengineer its ties with NGOs that were mainly supportive of MCA then.
Suddenly,MCA was a bad word, and he must have thought it so, to employ such drastic measures. Subsequently, members of MCA through two EGMs decided that Ong Tee Keat was not going to be the man that could be trusted with such an enormous task.
History says it all. Chua Soi Lek was elected President and despite all the attempts by Tee Keat to shut him out, returned to helm the fragmented society to where it is now. Fast forward to now, and it seems old wounds are healing accept for Tee Keat. Choosing to still brand the party which he once lead as irrelevant, Tee Keat has gone beyond the step of no return. Assured that he will get the same support from his constituents, Tee Keat has chosen the war path, similar to what the likes of Anwar, Jui Meng and Hwa Beng had done.
Question is why have they all fought so hard to keep their status quo had they believed that their (now former) parties would have been better off had they maintained their status? And when things do not go their way, condemn and attack it like a rabid dog?
As is, Tee Keat is adamant to take the 'independent' route in the next GE. Having already made MCA as his opponent, it remains to be seen how he will see himself should even the NGOs of Pandan Indah abandon him.
No need to look far, as most always quote western countries as a fine example.
Why not look at Kevin Rudd? Having been unseated by Julia Gillard through lost of support from his own party, did Rudd go on a warpath or stick it out with his party?
So here is my advice for Tee Keat, either go see Kevin Rudd and learn up on what loyalty means or go see Chua Jui Meng on how to get to be Vice President with a back side boss.

DAP Bentayan ADUN buy over claims?
Every now and again, someone pops up from the opposition to make themselves heard, and to do so, it is normally some outrageous claims.
The latest to do so is Bentayan Assmeblyman Gwee Tong Hian. Who is that? and who can fault you if you do?
Gwee made these claims in you guessed it, The Malaysian Insider. Don't get me wrong. I believe any party willing to go to these extremes must be brought to the book. So, if YB Gwee really thinks he is trying to do his party a favour, why doesn't he report it to MACC and the Police before making a press statement?
The act of 'crossing over' isn't something new in politics yet Anwar (who we all know about the Sept 16 claims) drew first blood when he started gloating over what was to be a series of crossovesr in Perak.
Here Jebat Must Die says its best.
That is an entirely different case than Gwee, isn't it? Here we have the Bentayan ADUN saying that he is being offered money to contest in 13th GE? Sheesh....could it even have been a campaign promise in the first place?
The only thing he must do now is to ensure that the law must be used against Wee Pao Chin (whom Gwee accused as the person who offered him money), and there can be no other way than to report it to the authorities.
The last time Anwar made a claim that he had proof that money was offered to ADUN Jelapang, Changkat Jering and Behrang, he had said that the proof will be revealed in good time. Of course other opposition portals such as this propagated this lie amongst their supporters. In Gwee's case, he has a recording of the offer all made in Mandarin. Nice. So let's nail this bugger Wee Pao Chin!
If seen from a neutral perspective, aren't all these claims timely to hide the own flaws of DAP? Think Hudud, think Johor unsafe statement!
There can be no condoning efforts of bribery, and this is yet another accusation by DAP against BN. Funny thing is this Wee Pao Chin fella. The way the story is played in Malaysian Insider, Wee is portrayed to be a friend of the PM.....wah! Dangerous man!
Say hypothetically , if PM Najib answers my tweets (and not that he did) does it make him my friend? And if so, if I talk to YB Jeff Ooi who has been seemingly abandoned by Guan Eng...does it make it an attempt to buy Jeff over?
MCA Johor is also played in the same breath whereas BN 'is fast losing support' in the same Malaysian Insider story, funny thing is when I spoke to an MCA friend in Muar, Bentayan isn't exactly DAP's golden child!
If YB Gwee does not make a police report today, I suggest as Johor Chief, Datuk Seri Chua Soi Lek to do the needful by reporting to MACC so to clear the air. In politics, people do resort to dirty tactics.
