Berry, Berry good?

A couple of days ago, Malaysian Chronicle reported that Malaysiakini was in talks with Malay Mail and that quickly got some to jump up and down in protest over what was being played as an UMNO media takeover.

As quickly as you said 'What' the guys who seems 'chronically' inclined to blame it all on UMNO had this other story 'Jalil to take charge at NSTP'.

Fast forward and the 'Laurel and Hardy' show started (Don't they resemble that famous bungling pair? Prem and Steven?). However, unknown to a lot of people (the very ones who think that Mkini is ALWAYS telling the truth) Prem and Steven have been playing good cop bad cop one too many times. Read here on what an ex- Mkini staffer has to say about them.

But a few months back, here at muststopthis, I highlighted how Malaysiakini made its entry. Read here for Part 1 of Follow the money, and here for Part 2 of Follow the money.
And why is that relevant? Lets leave this for a while later....

So Steven has spoken, but just as fast as Prem dismissed the idea of Malaysiakini talking to Malay Mail, Steven has admitted that Malaysiakini was in fact in talks with MM. So who is telling the truth?

But why Malay Mail? Isn't Malay Mail dead in the water already? Not quite....yet.

When Rocky went back to Malay Mail, everyone assumed that he was put there by PM and that his job was to well, make everything rosy. On the contrary, no one saw the downside that he was in.

Being put incharge of a paper that he was once very much apart of, and seeing the state that it was in when he took over are two very different things. I haven't spoken much to him about it, but my guess is that in the two years that he was there and facing the stiff problems from those who signed the cheques, he figured it was better facing the problems yet signing the cheques himself. Hence theMole.

So what about MM and Mkini? Take a look at the 'new' old timers there now. Can you see the point?

So is it a coincidence then that a certain Minister in charge of all these media hullabaloo has stuck this up the Berry causing it to see Red? After all, it has been played around a bit, with even Media Prima weighing in on that much sort after license.

Lets refresh our memory again shall we? Malay Mail in talks with Malaysiakini (its kind of like a slap in the Minister's face isn't it?), Bernama TV license slipping away (its all his fault right?), Bernama TV staff no paid their salaries? (OK, its serious now)

IMHO, someone up there is trying to send a STRONG message across that if they don't play ball, something BERRY, BERRY serious might just happen.

Then again, this is only my theory.......
