Wah! Maintaining a Mercedes Benz is cheaper then Perdana!

Menteri Besar of Terengganu, Dato Ahmad Said better just keep quiet about the recent purchase of a fleet of Mercedes Benz E-200 rather than trying to justify the recent decision by his state Exco before he shoots himself in the foot...again.
He tried to justify himself, but why don't you ask yourself if there is any truth in what he says...

"Mentri Besar Datuk Ahmad Said said the state government had planned to purchase the cars for a long time now to replace its Proton Perdana V6 Executive fleet in a move to cut cost."

Please understand that the Proton Perdanas go through continuous long-distance journeys. It’s costing us a lot of money due to high cost of maintenance.(and if they use the Merc, they are just driving it on short distances, are they?)

“We are not saying that the national car is not good but in reality we are coughing up more money for maintaining the Proton Perdanas, particularly the gear boxes,”(first he says the safer car is Merc, which means Perdana not as safe as....then the gear box of Proton is more expensive?Either Proton is cheating us (they are shortchanging for sure..cheating? you decide.....Gearbox?..HELLO! DID YOU EVEN GET A QUOTE FOR THE GEAR BOX AH? Try checking the quote! I registered on a Mercedes authorised website, and asked for one, and it sure was hell not cheaper than RM50K ! You try it!)

“In the long run, Mercedes cars are cheaper to maintain and could also save us fuel costs.
(I don't drive a Merc nor do I drive a Perdana...but common sense will tell you, comparing the 2 sizes, the Merc is Bigger, hence it should be heavier....how does a heavier car use less fuel?...any engineers care to elaborate?)

This is the state’s long-term plan – we are farsighted. The cars could also fetch a high market price, when sold as second-hand cars. (Yeah sure! When did the Government ever sold their cars in the 2nd hand market? They offer them to their officers (if I got this right) pretty much like how Tajuddin Ramli's brother bought the Jaguar for RM1!).....I stand corrected.)

“The funds to procure the cars were from our own coffers and has nothing to do with the oil royalties,” (and the million dollar question is WHO Approved the use of RM3.43 million for the benefit of 14 people?)

This is matematik ala BN. We must understand this... everything is relative...

maintenance of Perdana 50k over cost 100k... 50%

maintenance of a merc 50k over cost 150k is 30% ONLY. Cheaper... SEE!?

I know its difficult to understand their mentality but I think after 50 years we should understand them VERY well.

Deleted my first one coz I failed my maths.. after much computation I think the above to be correct.

They know it is their last chance. Next time PAS will win the State and there will be no more perks! Watch out for the honours list..all their cronies and ketua JKK,cawangan, etc will get medals for "public service".

Maybe now the Sultan can see what an idiot he got for a mentri besar. The Sultan is most highly respected, perhaps He can now dismiss this idiotic MB.

Our PM is really a dumb and hopeless fler. Why is he so scared of the MB of Terengganu when he does not follow the rules? He should give him the boot and by going against him by ordering 14 mercs is a slap on his face, right?Infact,I believe he,the MB has the backing of somebody and just would like to test the depth of the water at this present stage.

to all,

it is true the merc is a lot cheaper to maintain than perdana! my dad bought a perdana sometime ago and the bills to maintain it were just mind blowing! the technology that the merc is using is far more advance than perdana!

merc may be havier but think about power to weight ratio etc! merc has more gears thus improving fuel consumption and accelaration! besides that the engine is only 1.8l with supercharger producing 163hp while perdana is only 150hp!

technology in auto industry is really moving forward! and for ur information merc has developed a new engine DiesOtto engine.

That engine produces 238hp and 295ft-lb. of torque from just 1.8 liters of displacement using some new technology known to many as homogeneous charge compression ignition, or HCCI, which "operates in compression ignition mode under light loads and spark ignition at other times" according to our own Sam Abuelsamid. The fuel mileage of the car with the DiesOtto engine is expected to be almost 40 miles per gallon, which is excellent for such a large vehicle!

Have a thought about it! Even the opposition is supporting this moved!
