On the 12th of February 2008, Prime Minister Badawi was asked if he will dissolve Parliament on the 13th. His reply was a firm no, 'don't listen to rumours, there shall be no dissolution of Parliament tomorrow (referring to the 13th of course). Others tried to give their views too.
This afternoon, 13th of February 2008, all government controlled media, released a statement that the Malaysian Parliament was dissolved.
So if you look at it, either the reporter who asked the question, misquoted the Prime Minister, or the Prime Minister misunderstood the question altogether.
Either that, or we have a bloody good liar for a PM. OK, to call him a liar will be too drastic. So lets just put it that he was probably asleep when the question was asked.
So, to the polls we shall go. Let's remember some of the stuff that happened during the past four years they were in power shall we?
1.Rising crime rates (in general, but family of victims will remember)
2.The judicial crisis (what crisis??? depends on which side you are looking from)
3.The famous 'ISA was not used during his term in office' (go ask those in Kamunting)
4.The many corridors (rather, I would call it verandahs!)
5.Racial incitement (oh, this is not a rumour, go check out the many videos of the UMNO AGMs!)
6.Marginalisation of certain communities (I am not referring to the HIDRAF, try the farmers will ya?)
7. Many more
Then again, I am no political analyst, but just a frustrated Malaysian , I guess.
Frustrated enough to stand up and be counted, and trying my part to tell others to vote wisely ,please! Use your vote to tell them that what they have been doing has not been good enough for us!

Bro, as much as I'd like to I can't (go to the polls) because I'll be on a floating prison. Now my Indonesian colleague just said something that pissed me off because we're supposed to be more advance than them, right? He was able to vote when he was in Singapore for the last Indo GE --albeit he had to present himself at the embassy there. Granted, there is no embassy nor consulate here but even if I was Jakarta there is no provisions in place for a civilian like me to vote. Only military personnel and certain other groups --diplomats I suppose, and you know where they're vote is going to go.
In this age of SSLs (secure transactions) and https, and M'sia proclaiming itself as an advanced IT nation there is just no excuse!
Let's hope your votes and other clear and level headed Bolehsians would make a difference this time around.
Re: the MBB story I once had a similar episode where no money came out of the ATM but the branch was open so I stepped in and made a ruckus. But still I got it back the next day. 48 hours is bullshit because I got mine banked back in the next day. Perhaps if it had happened during bank closing hours then it would have been different. So how long did it take to get your money back bro?
hey swamp man!
Darn right about the GE...It BS that only certain groups of people have the 'privilege' to vote. Man, your indon friend must have had a field day! Been speaking to a lot of people, most are just plain fed up and said they will vote the other way! The scales are no more balanced!
As for the bank...three days! (first and second day new year was a holiday) third day...they credited it back!
